Porter is a small time but tough criminal, who's primary gig, is robbery. Now his friend Val Resnick needs $130,000 to pay back a criminal group known as 'The Outfit'. He tells Porter about some Asian couriers who carry $300,000, Porter agrees to it on the condition that they split the take. When they hit them, they discover that they only have $140,000, and Resnick says that, that's what they always carry. He pulls out a gun and shoots Porter in the back and leaves him to die. However, Porter manages to make it to a doctor, and get treated, when he recovers, he sets out to get Resnick and his share $70,000. He begins by approaching an associate of Resnick's. Porter then seeks out a prostitute named Rosie, whom he knew, she tells him where he can find Resnick, when he does he tells Resnick that he should go to his employers and ask them to give him back $70,000 of the money he gave them, Resnick says that's impossible but Porter 'convinces' him to do it. Resnick then goes to his boss, Mr. Carter, who tells him that it's in their best interest to help Resnick deal with Porter. Carter orders one of his men to take Porter out but Porter's just too good for them. Resnick then asks his girlfriend who knows the people whom he and Porter stole the money from, and tells her to tell them where they can find him. When they do they are interrupted by two policemen, but they are crooked who are under the impression that Porter's going after $200,000-300,000 and are going to get it. Can Porter deal with all these people and still get his money.

I think this is a very good remake of Point Blank with Lee Marvin, Angie Dickenson, Carrol O'Conner and Lloyd Bochner. Lee Marvin's version was very good, but there was a "black film" atmosphere to it. Point Blank has recently appeared on DVD and worth seeing. To the day he was a brutal movie. Violence in depreciation is more graphic, but the story remains strong. A key element (and a source of humor) Porter is its insistence on the recovery of $ 75,000, although the crowd thinks it's more because the theft was twice (Porter does not want his partner's share even though it was betrayed by him). One reviewer said depreciation seemed written for a Payback Comedy movie 1970. Point Blank was made around 1967.

ROI, directed by Brian Helgeland is a classic "black film" in the tradition of urban "gangster movies" and Mel Gibson is giving an excellent performance as Porter - the evil that is only slightly better than the rest of the mafia, thugs, thieves and scoundrels who met on the film. "Payback" is a great movie: Payback of this genre. Donald E. Westlake, who wrote the novel on which the Payback movie has picked up the threads of Dashiel Hammett and Raymond Chandler to create a real universe with "real" characters, and Brian Helgeland has managed to bring this universe to the screen. Everything about this movie: Payback is great - the script, the casting, direction and soundtrack. This DVD film Payback is similar to Sergio Leone "The Good, the bad and the ugly" and saw "The Maltese Falcon" starring Bogart, you should see "Payback."

Wow, Mel Porter "Gibson is bad! Not so bad, however, that harm its image. Instead of playing half of the low-end criminal throughout the film, which combines parts of his "Lethal Weapon" in the same person. I could have done without. Still, the DivX film Payback is fun to see, although sometimes very violent. (I sound like a label advising parents here.) If you really want to see how Gibson could say, go see the first "Mad Max" (not the other two, however). Here I found the cast to have more credibility than Porter, in particular, Deborah Unger as Porter wife addicted to heroin. Unfortunately, she only makes one third of the image. And I loved 'Carter', one of the leaders of the Outfit, brilliantly played by William Devane. This type has no illusions about what he does. Serious about their business, and even shows some appreciation for their enemies, while Kris "Bronson" Kristofferson and James Fairfax 'Coburn seemed more interested in questions of lifestyle.

One of today's black cinema is as complicated as is. Characters rough, rough violence and rough language all understand this re-make the 1967 movie: Payback "Point Blank", which starred Lee Marvin. Mel Gibson is the "good guy" here, taking the role of Marvin, but put that in quotes because it is not really "good", just a thief trying to get back your $ 70,000 that was stolen by his partner and ex - former wife in a robbery. He climbs the stairs, a small head to the top, to finally get his money. Gibson was beaten several times and even tortured in the toes-a calculation stage. Women are looking hard, rough and unappealing. I like the metallic shades of blue, here, making this a visually interesting film. However, the city scenes are bleak, that of Batman. Despite this, the film: Payback that are still good enough to watch repeatedly. Most people like a simple revenge story that really is, and there is no humor in the dark here, too. The other characters are interesting, especially played by William Devane. I also liked the story by Gibson, made in 1940 the black cinema style. The worst person in this case was the sadistic "Val Resnick (Gregg Henry). It was so bad, it was cartoon-ish, someone so bad it belonged in one of those Hellboy or Batman or Spiderman movies.
