| Late in the 1980s is the story of Josey AIMES, a small Town and single mother of two with a sordid past who is trying for years to put behind her. Living with their parents and want to make things better for herself, but more importantly for their children, she has a job in a prosperous iron mine in Minnesota, where only a handful of women working under the constant oppression and harassment from their male coworkers licentious. Despite its reputation degrading the possible consequences, and a working group of staff seems willing to help, she files a lawsuit to recover their dignity and bridge the gender gap. While well-crafted, acted, and is based on real events, this strangely never convinces the plot and characters are created too easily, and the dramatic climax not pack any punch. Theron is pretty good, and Jenkins is like his stern father conflict, surrounded by a capable cast, but the story does not rise above the level of agreement. ** ½ |
