In 1412, a young girl called Jeanne is born in Domremy, France. The times are hard: The Hunderd Years war with England has been going on since 1337, English knights and soldiers roam the country. Jeanne develops into a very religious young woman, she confesses several times a day. At the age of 13, she has her first vision and finds a sword. When coming home with it, she finds the English leveling her home town. Years after that, in 1428, she knows her mission is to be ridding France of the English and so sets out to meet Charles, the Dauphin. In his desperate military situation, he welcomes all help and gives the maiden a chance to prove her divine mission. After the successful liberation of Orleans and Reims, the Dauphin can be crowned traditionally in the cathedral of Reims - and does not need her anymore, since his wishes are satisfied. Jeanne d'Arc gets set up in his trap and is imprisoned by the Burgundians. In a trial against her under English law, she can't be forced to tell about her divine visions she has had continuously since childhood. Being condemned of witchcraft and being considered as relapsed heretic, she is sentenced to death. Jeanne d'Arc is burnt alive in the marketplace of Rouen on May 30th, 1431, at only 19 years of age.

Since 1899 the Maid of Orleans has been subjected to all kinds of films, most of which are dangerous to believe in raids, but only a couple of which have been more or less historical attempts to be accurate. This DivX film Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc, The goes into blowing tremendism U.S. so beloved by the public, and ends up being a flavor "action movie" with a lot of effects and a lot of tricks and a lot of blood, destruction of Ms. Jovovich English medieval armies single-handed. Luc Besson should have known better, the next time you must deal with all the cast and European cinema in the beautiful valley of the Loire, and to comply more strictly historical facts are readily available in any file of Paris. Forget this nonsense bustling market, and another version made the same year: Joan of Arc (1999 / I) (TV) ... aka Jeanne d'Arc (1999/II) (TV) (Canada: French title) Leelee Sobieski, with Jacqueline Bisset and helped along - incredibly - Shirley MacLaine and Peter O'Toole, in a much more intimate and historically contextualised version.
Too much camera work used is not the only thing wrong with this movie. Try to leave as a new and true, when in fact neither. Jeanne will be shown soon in a closet of his sister being raped against her. This never happened, and memories of her and the resulting actions serve only to pepper the DVD movie Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc, The with more and more fiction. Besson makes the history of Pucelles in an epic story behind her Besson needs. Milla Jovovich obviously did little research and discovered that it was Jeanne's hair was black as ink. Perhaps he had spent too much money on coffee because of their spastic ... ultimately, its performance could have been much better if he had known, and was directed and written by someone other than Besson, who should never be allowed anywhere near the historical films again.
This is the worst version of Joan of Arc that I've seen - and I think I've seen them all. If you know the true story of Joan of Arc, it will be very disappointed. Rather than as a portrait of Joan sane, sensible, intelligent young man who very rationally planned and directed a series of brilliant military campaigns lasting several days to save France from the English (according to their historical profile), the DVD movie Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc, The portrays as a girl suffers mentally delusional hallucinations and strange irritating to totally irrational emotional outbursts, impulsive military leaders. From very unlike the case in accordance with the historical facts as we know them and I do not enjoy watching a crazy, irrational women assume leadership of the calm, rational people, this is a Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc, The Drama I did not bother to see again. The act was well for the most part (of his part is often exaggerated) and the special effects were on par. That said, I do not think it is a DivX film Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc, The worth seeing, especially if you expect to see a true hero. It is a pity that Joan could not have portrayed as intelligent and rational person records their history as ... responding to a competent manner in the heresy trials that could not find any fault with what he said. A better version of this story would be the one with Leelee Sobieski, also around 1999.
