| Carlito Brigante is a former drug lord who has just emerged from prison and has promised to go legitimate. But when he returns to his old neighborhood, all the memories of his past return to haunt you in an instant from a shooting in the back of a barber shop. Director Brian De Palma ( "Scarface") is associated with Al Pacino ( 'The Godfather' films) once again to Carlito's Way Drama film this movie, and it works. Unlike Scarface, Carlito's Way was much more of a flow that tells a story without too much violence in it, and Carlito as he was trying to do to get away from his past. Every minute of the DivX film Carlito's Way is gold. The actions are the key in this film, and each performer is great with his paper. For me, the most important was that of Sean Penn ( "21 Grams") as it only showed how his character can change in a matter of time. He was the most convincing of the film. This Carlito's Way film also gave John Leguizamo ( "Ice Age 1 and 2) the recognition as the best actor. In general, this is a classic crime Carlito's Way film genre, and should not be overlooked. - (10/10) |
| If I had to choose the films that made my favorite actor Pacino would underestimate this classic. He is a man's man and woman to man. That show the humor and bravado. He plays a character who can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Pacino is in top form here, working with good actors, good script and a well told story. His best scenes are with Penelope Ann Miller and Sean Penn (who also shines). It takes your attention from his opening speech, which is making a statement to the court that sounds like a speech at the Academy Awards. Very entertaining and humorous. It's even better from there, and through a range of emotions, portraying a very interesting character, and making it more interesting. I loved it! |
| Every time I see Carlito's Way, I always think that is what The Godfather III could have been if they had tried more. Charlie Brigante with trying to go straight almost mirrors Michael Corleone's attempt to make the 'family business' legitimate. The big difference is that in Carlito's Way we see a vain attempt to cash in the success of a popular series of films, which actually is the Godfather III never was. Al Pacino was in good form in the title role, but is probably outshone by Sean Penn as a coke-addicted lawyer David Kleinfeld, who was almost certainly the inspiration for Ken Rosenberg in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, which of course is directly connected by the participation of Luis Guzmán in both titles - such as the Pachanga in Carlito Way and as the voice of Ricardo Diaz on GTA: Vice City. It's also good to see Viggo Mortensen in a role very different from that played in The Lord of the Rings, Hidalgo or GI Jane. As an actor who usually plays strong, is a refreshing change (if it can be considered as such) to see him in a wheelchair with a colostomy bag. All performed well, beautiful, and some laugh out loud-a-time to boot. What more could you want from a gangster movie? |
| This is one of the two great works of a true master - Brian de Palma. Like its "brother", Scarface, the Carlito's Way Drama movie gives us an idea of the criminal world, however, cruelty, deceit, lies and death decisions that can change lives forever. As noted in recent days of a retired gangster Carlito Brigante is difficult not to admire the director's powers, as usual very good story of a man attempting to leave the company becomes an epic and a cult Carlito's Way Drama movie in the door of our eyes. The Carlito's Way Drama also contains some important messages, and one of the most important is: "Never give up your friends, no matter what ..." The DVD film Carlito's Way has an excellent cast (Pacino is great, as usual, and Sean Penn does an amazing job as repulsive corrupt lawyer) direction and soundtrack. 10/10, a true crime classic. |
