L.A. in the early 1930's: racism, poverty, and disease color the Bunker Hill neighborhood where Arturo Bandini, a lover of men and beasts alike, has arrived from Colorado to write the great Los Angeles novel. After six months and down to his last nickel, he orders a cup of coffee, served by Camilla Lopez, beautiful, self-possessed, and Mexican. Arturo gets advice, encouragement, and an occasional check from H.L. Mencken, so he keeps writing and he keeps seeing Camilla. But, he's mean to her for no apparent reason, so the relationship sputters. A housekeeper from back East suggests a way out of his jealously and fears. 'Camilla Bandini': is it in the cards?

One of the other commentators mentioned that almost went out. Had it not been with my wife, who wanted to stay, I would have left. It is a shame, too, because I think it could have been a good movie. But this is easily one of the worst scripts I've seen adapted. It starts nowhere and goes nowhere (I would say going nowhere fast, but going nowhere really slow ... very slow). Occasionally there are signs that something might happen, or is potentially below a certain depth of the characters, but that's all you get - advice. Not a single payment or disclosure of the entire film. Not that we need a patch of land that is entertaining ... I love a good meandering character study as much as the next indie brilliance. But these characters are added to the blue. For the entire duration of the DVD movie Ask the Dust does not care what happens to one of them. As a matter of fact, almost the beginning of the hope to die, because at least one death can be more interesting to see his inexplicable conduct which is so bizarre and unpredictable that what appears to be convincing in itself, but it is not. Instead of extravagant, noir-Esquire characters acting tough in fashion, just immediately recognized for what it is: a group of talented actors, but miscast, brooding and raising their eyebrows when I read strange dialogue without a shred of context. All this for two plodding painfully slow hours. Awful.

Ask andalusia polvo''''sería thought a good film, but I must say it has nothing special, it's a simple romantic DivX film Ask the Dust with some drama during the Great Depression in the 30s. Some things are so obvious, like when you see the character Camilla Lopez coughing blood and broken out, you know she will die with time. (By the way, reminds me of the scene where Satine in Moulin Rouge, is sick and coughing a lot of tuberculosis, fractionation of blood into a hankie as Camilla) PS1: I am surprised to see Tom Cruise is one of the producers of this movie. PS2: No, I have not read the book. But the topic is interesting. This thing of being from another country and try to settle in another place that interests me greatly. And I think that Camilla as beautiful, a Caucasian American who wanted to marry and share their name, and Arthur, who also wanted a blonde to marry American, falls in love, which shows that in the end, these things do not matter at all .
