Drug lord Frank White (Chrstiopher Walken) is released from Sing-Sing prison after serving a number of years for drug trafficking. He is reunited with his former gang, led by the murderous Jimmy Jump (Laurence Fishburne), as well as his personal female bodyguards Raye (Theresa Randle) and Melanie (Carrie Ngyen), and his lover/legal annalist Jennifer (Janet Julien). After seeing his old neighborhood more dilapidated and depressing than ever, Frank decides to do good by eliminating his competitors whom filled the void left by his incarceration, then steal their money and drugs to finance a new South Bronx hospital for the needy. But Frank's past won't let go of him when a group of overzealous cops, led by corrupt detective Roy Bishop (Victor Argo), frustrated at the lack of clues to nail Frank on for the current street killings, decide to take matters into their own hands.

I wonder why Larry does not share your root beer with Chris in the beginning. I have to admit that the root beer is pretty good, but that is no reason for not sharing. I guess that he drank all coming to the room. But why drink it? Was it really thirsty or just do not want Chris to have any? It's not as if the middle of summer or anything. I do not know why that should have been thirsty. Perhaps only ate a few pretzels. Or ham. Ham always makes me really thirsty for some reason. Larry, you really should stay hydrated. It is bad not to share your root beer with your friends right when you get out of jail. I wonder what kind of root beer is? If it's A & W, well OK ... but if it barks junk, forget it.

Director Abel Ferrara has its ups and downs. Throughout his career, the only thing he did was a masterpiece "Bad Lieutenant." However, the rest of his films are always interesting, if not a complete success. "King of New York" is a very unconventional King of New York Action film of the crime and not an appeal to those looking for another "Goodfellas." However, the DivX Movie King of New York finally won for his dreamy atmosphere. This is one of the most surreal many movies I've seen. Most of the characters are a bit one-note, but the direction of Ferrara is intriguing and Walken is great as usual. The film: King of New York is slow paced, which together with the bizarreness, very difficult to access. Walken is Walken in his performance. I will leave it up to you as a good thing or not, but personally I like the man. It is strange as all hell and nervous at the memorable moments, but that's all the same. I'm not sure if the humor was intentional, but there's fun to see Walken dancing to Schooly D, surrounded by smoke marijuana. The supporting cast is one of the strangest ever and it is really a once in a lifetime. Laurence Fishburne is the character of a blaxploitation Throwback stereotype, but easily steals the show. Victor Argo, David Caruso, Wesley Snipes, Janet Julian, Paul Calderon, and are good in their roles. "King of New York is not for everyone, but those interested in more movies and unconventional dream of your liking. Its more of an art than a film: King of New York action movie. (7 / 10)
