When a private satellite encounters an unidentified source of heat in Antarctica and it is found to be a pyramid buried deep underground , a search team comprising of top-of-the-line archaeologists and engineers is sent to Antarctica to find out more . Once there , the team comes across signs which indicate that the place is inhabited by an unknown alien species . It is not long before the aliens begin to hunt the team members . At the same time , a trio of coming-of-age Predators have arrived to collect the skulls of the aliens as trophies , and the humans are caught between a deadly battle between the two warring species .

This is a very entertaining movie: AVP: Alien vs. Predator - and it can sustain itself without the prior Predator and Alien movies, mainly because there really is no story - but should have been much better. Some spoilers ahead ...... This AVP: Alien vs. Predator Thriller could have tied up all foreigners and Predator movies. For example, the Predator ship should have studied the Derilect as in the original aliens. Considering how the DivX film AVP: Alien vs. Predator ended, it would have been perfect. By adding a few minutes (maybe more) to the film, which should have Weyland has to find out what they were doing predators (not to let the crew know, of course) in the hope of a recovery of foreigners, while the hunt continues. Of course, the accidental shooting of the pyramid was inevitable and the film: AVP: Alien vs. Predator could continue as originally planned. This would have solidified the motivations of the Weyland-Yutani Alien films. ........ So close, but still fun.
