| I have not seen this DVD film Shopgirl a good time! I did not expect much from him, but I was totally surprised. What a brilliant work of Steve Martin! The screenplay, based on his novel was written very well. I liked how they made the most obvious enough to regulate things watchable. Performance was impressive, the characters are entirely credible and had a lot of soul. (Claire Danes was particularly impressive in this regard.) I almost had the feeling that the DivX film Shopgirl about love, life, meet new people are no longer attractive to filmmakers. After this film, I do not think more. It is full of romance, emotion and lovely, subtle sense of humor. This is exactly that type of DivX Movie Shopgirl you'd like to do with your girlfriend / boyfriend. |
| I can not in a million years to understand why anyone would give this Shopgirl film a good review. There was never a reason for anything in the plot, no character development anywhere, and the dialogue was close to almost nil. It is assumed that I feel for this young, naive girl who first sleeps with a complete idiot that she can not be around? Then turns around and begins to take a long romance with an unattractive older couples of his father, which makes it known in advance that he has no long-term interest in it? The only idiot when it turns sleeze ball and also get on the side. How can we move suddenly sleeping with Jeremy bimbette counter-blonde girl who is trying to make Vermont I'm naive-not-a-prostitute-but - I'll stop-you-pay for something and all the sugar Daddy's girl, the first two are back together and crazy in love? Nothing makes sense this whole movie. You can continue to believe that suddenly come together and become more black and white, but never does. Skip this stinker. Is not worth 50 ¢ to rent. |
| I just got home after watching, and I really think I lost a couple of hours or so with some sense. I thought it was going to be a fun movie, but ended up being a "nothing" film. At least, wait until you can see at home, so do not regret paying too much and you can not see at any time. Anyway, I'm really surprised that people are giving good feedback. Maybe I was not in the right mood, though I do not think that was that. This had to be one of 10 lines of text review, and I do not think it worthwhile to write about this movie. I just wanted to warn people about what to expect. |
| I did not finish watching this movie. Almost turned off near the beginning because it was so boring, but decided to wait until Steve Martin came to see if picked at all. He did not. I do not believe in the relationship between Danes and Martin, is not the kind of character you seduced with gifts of expensive gloves by a man 34 years older. It might have been credible if Steve Martin is handsome and charming, but he was not. There was zero on the screen chemistry between Martin and Danes. Photography, lighting, music and acting were excellent, just a poor script. One of the signs of the weakness of the script is the use of voice, as when the Danes and Martin are having dinner and suddenly Steve Martin is the voice of Claire Danes explaining what you're thinking. Things like that should be demonstrated in action - show, do not tell. |
