| ZERO EFFECT I loved the DivX Movie Zero Effect and would recommend to anyone who enjoys a great story told with great style and wit. Jake Kasdan is in his early 20s and has written and directed a great DivX film Zero Effect that belies his age and relative inexperience. I take my hat in front of him. This test is a great talent and I can not wait to see what he does next. When I heard about the plot of ZERO effect, the story of an eccentric, solitary, private detective and that this part would be played by Bill Pullman, which was sold in the Zero Effect Thriller movie immediately. Bill Pullman is a great player I admire a lot and is always a joy to see on the screen. Part of Daryl Zero is a very difficult and very few actors who could pull off, but Bill was just brilliant. The scene in which Daryl hear his guitar playing and singing a song, but not really see him for about three minutes was perhaps the most wonderful introduction of a character I've seen in any film. Ben Stiller provides sterling support as Daryl's right hand man and Ryan O'Neal (nice to see you again) and Kim Dickens is also great. There are so many great lines in the film, particularly those where Daryl is to explain their methods of deduction and surveillance. His explanation of how best to keep someone is priceless, as is his explanation of how to find things! This movie: Zero Effect is a pure joy and very refreshing. Go see it! |
| Daryl Zero's character is an obvious parody of Sherlock Holmes, Steve Arlo as a clear Watson. The eccentric genius adored in the 19th century is, of course, completely insane, in a fit of late 20th century - more like "bourgeois virtues Watson accentuated. The plot is based on the story of Holmes' A Scandal in Bohemia." In fact you can identify most of the Zero Effect Thriller character of the short story and the main conflict - but the father-daughter aspect. "Zero Effect" might be seen as an example of "post-modernism 'in film, with numerous references to the level of literature, gender and popular culture. Knowledge of the sources of intertextuality makes the movie: Zero Effect more enjoyable. If you like the work of the Coen brothers, it is likely that you'll love this too. |
| This is a great update and remake of the adventures of Sherlock Holmes "A Scandal in Bohemia." If Sherlock were about contemporary times, this is what you want. I understand that the DivX Movie Zero Effect was made for television, with Alan Cumming and Julian Hirsch. It is difficult to imagine that he had to recreate the chemistry between Ben Stiller and Bill Pulman. Maybe, however, that the idea was taken up and running with two other shows - Monk and House. In any case it is a pity that now were sequels. Perhaps, like so many other things, were the stars of its different forms and the rights expired. Too bad. |
| As soon as the "Zero Effect" ended, my wife and I turned to each other and said, "this is one of the best movies we've seen." Bill Pullman shows why it is one of the best, if often overlooked, players. He plays private detective Daryl Zero is uncannily shrewd at work, but otherwise is a mess. We laughed so hard that sometimes we had tears in their eyes. It is not only fun - it is well-woven story of murder and blackmail. Cleerness for his acting, history, and run, I give you a solid "9" "10" and one of my favorites of all time. |
| This starts very well, is a little better and then disappears in the second half and kept fading. The twists and revelations at the last minute came too late to save the movie. Once the romance ends suspense that simply does not work the rest of the way. All characters except for the one played by Ben Stiller, are either crooked or have no life or consciousness it was not difficult for me as a DVD film Zero Effect that is so unappealing driving. Bill Pullman of the narration is quite good but there was much for me to recommend this movie. |
| Well, I thought this was an excellent movie. That said, where is the credit to Arthur Conan Doyle? When the movies are based on the works of Shakespeare, as today's versions of Hamlet and Macbeth credit provided that the works of Shakespeare. Zero Effect compared to a scandal in Bohemia. Comparing the character of Holmes to zero: 1. The use of drugs 2. both play a musical instrument 3. implementation of both astonishing observation capability to resolve the cases 4. 5 both use disguises. Both are loners dependent intermediaries (Watson / Arlo) In Zero Effect, Arlo comes to conflicts between his romantic life and the need for Zero him to run. In a scandal in Bohemia, Watson is married and recently Waston and Holmes must deal with the issue. The first line on a Scandal in Bohemia said: "To Sherlock Holmes she is always women." Guess what, at the end of Sherlock not admire the girls and their more capable opponent. I guess Doyle should have a copy of Zero Effect hidden away somewhere. Once again, I must say I thought it was a fantastic film. I'm not always a great admirer of Pullman, but was excellent in the role. If you are thinking of not seeing this DVD movie Zero Effect because you do not like Ben Stiller, and not let it stop you. He took his normal person in a couple of notches. Do not expect to see any trace of Zoolander or Meet The Parents. |
