| This DivX Movie Sophie's Choice is almost perfect, if there is no such thing. Meryl Streep gives his best ever performance as Sophie. In fact, its performance is quite possibly the best DVD film Sophie's Choice acting I've ever seen. (It's really that good.) Plus there are still more - the music, directing, writing, the actors - all are excellent. Please note that this Sophie's Choice Romance movie is very moving and tragic, but very well done. You will laugh and mourn - is filled with hope and despair - that will make you appreciate life and understand the pain. |
| This remains one of my favorite movies of all time .... and absolutely the best actress in all the years since. Streep is superb and flawless. The "choice" scene was so horrible to me (a young mother of a son and a daughter at the time) I took several years before he could see the Sophie's Choice movie without skipping past that part. It is a small stage, but its impact was so disturbing and so horrible - I can not think of any other scene in a Sophie's Choice Romance that has affected me so. Kline was also terrible, and the music is beautiful and memorable. Overall, a wonderful movie, and a perfect 10 from me. What a talented actress! |
| Wow! I'm still in absolute shock of this movie. Meryl Streep gives a magnificent performance, with an impeccable Polish accent. Kevin Kline and Peter Macnichol are great and the three of them make a very entertaining movie. Choosing Sophie has to do is shocking, a beautiful and unforgettable scene acted. Meryl Streep won the Oscar for best actress for her portrayal of the Nazi camp survivors, that it deserves. The film: Sophie's Choice was amazing with a great score and many emotional scenes in motion. The emotions of characthers, especially Sophie, are incredibly belive and bought to life. All 3 major performances were unforgettable and memorable. A must see. Highly recommended. 10/10 |
| Although sometimes achingly literary, emotional moments of real power are provided by the fluid story of Nestor Almendros disturbing film, Marvin Hamlisch quietly making the score, a tap performance by Peter MacNichol, and a seminal performance by Meryl Streep, Kim Stanley (the famous actress / teacher and Oscar nominee as the mother to Jessica Lange in "Frances" in the same year), proclaimed, "the titanic portrait of his generation." No matter what your initial feelings about this movie, I encourage you to go back and take Streep in the dark dance of loss, madness and finally, painful redemption. |
