While traveling by train to visit his grandfather in Jamshedpur, Calcutta born, Bengali-speaking Ashoke Ganguli meets with fellow-traveler, Ghosh, who impresses upon him to travel, while Ashoke is deep into a book authored by Nicholai Gogol. The train meets with an accident, and after recuperating, Ashoke re-locates to America, settles down, returns home in 1977 to get married to aspiring singer, Ashima, and returns home to New York. Shortly thereafter they become parents of a boy, who they initially name Gogol, and a few years later both give birth to Sonia. The family then buy their own house in the suburbs and travel to India for the first time after their marriage. The second time they travel to India is when Gogol and Sonia are in their late teens, and after a memorable visit to Kolkata and then to the Taj Mahal, they return home. Gogol falls in love with Maxine Ratliff and moves in with her family, while Ashoke spends time traveling, and Sonia moves to California, leaving Ashima all her by herself. The Ganguli family will be destined to travel to India again soon - this time under very different circumstances - and after all have endured life-changing events.

I got to see the fulfillment of this wonderful Namesake, The movie by chance in a screening.I had no expectations other than the fact that this was a DVD movie Namesake, The from Mira Nair. The Namesake, The film is a journey of a couple of Bengal to the United States and his life with her children in a different culture, and the final realization of the main characters - brilliantly played by Tabu, Kal Pen, and Irfaan. The emotion of the loss has been portrayed very moving and very well by Mira, the loss of parents, loss of children, and the loss of the couple, leaving behind nothing but yourself and trying to find freedom and joy after the loss. This is a universal story with universal emotions, and one that crosses all cultures as a Namesake, The film about what we all go through or will pass. Tabu and Irfaan has given as the main disposal increased performance and Kal Pen gogol. The works and emotions are handled subtly and very efficient, as well as make me laugh in many ways, the DVD movie Namesake, The made me mourn for a long time, well after it was over. Sooni Taraporewala, has written a great script and this DVD film Namesake, The for me is my top Namesake, The movie of this year, about Babel.
As a fellow Bengali and Jhumpa Lahiri fan, had few expectations of a moving DivX film Namesake, The adaptation of his novel (although I think the best interpreter of Maladies was written). However, I was pleasantly surprised when they finally saw the DivX Movie Namesake, The in today's New York Times Arts & Leisure Weekend selection. The film: Namesake, The tackles all the issues carefully, and do not understand Bengali hearing the nuances of Bengali culture. The Namesake, The Drama movie captures the hustle and bustle of India, sets the tone of the Namesake, The Drama movie from the first scene, and in general, it is encouraging and it is true. It's humor at all points of law, and the transition from a strong, vibrant and colorful life of a lonely, cold, snow and white New York is impressive. You can feel the Tabu (Ashima's) loneliness. Jhumpa Lahiri's cameo is well appreciated, although many in the audience did not catch it. The DivX film Namesake, The is respectful of Indian culture and uses cases small and large canvases messages. Everyone is well cast. Kal Penn shown itself capable of more difficult tasks that the college-boy stereotype. Irrfan Khan, Tabu and not disappoint, as are some of the most popular actors in India today. I wanted to return to Calcutta in India all the scenes. From the opening credits with the characters of the names were replaced American witty characters. "Every day is a gift, Gogol, Irrfan Khan (Ashok) said Kal Penn (Gogol) in the film, but really, the name is a wonderful gift to his audience, especially since I saw this Namesake, The movie 5 days before my birthday.
